We go to Bangkok for a Lunchtime Chat with a familiar face. We find out more about corporate staff MVP from our last quarterly all-hands meeting, Toffy, including her favourite lunchtime food, her run with celebrity (literally!), and the advice she has for everyone:
This might sound prideful, but absolutely YES! I always try my best and work very hard on every one of my tasks, and I believe that you reap what you sow. In that sense, I see so many potential MVPs around me, because everywhere I look, I see smart and hard workers ?
I would like to thank Ham, my fellow graphic designer, for always supporting me in all the tasks we receive. I would also like to thank Mister Popular, Pratan, for his help with everything else in the office. I would not be here if I didn’t have either of them.
Something quick and cheap, usually. Save time, save money! I quite like noodle dishes, so I eat a lot of spaghetti, ramen and the like.
Without a doubt, it’s the people! I look forward to seeing everyone every day. It’s a very energetic environment, and everyone’s personalities play off each other to create an atmosphere of collaboration. As a creative, being surrounded by these positive vibes really helps ?
Ham and Pratan of course, since I thanked them in my acceptance speech! I would not be able to decide if you asked me to choose just one. I love them both too much.
Music and more music! It’s the fuel that keeps me going in my work ?
More importantly though, it’s the happiness of my colleagues. Seeing them smile, laugh and celebrate whenever they achieve their goals warms my heart, and I always feel happy for them. I do my very best to support them however I can, so that they can keep smiling and keep celebrating ?
Working out! I’ve loved to do so since I was a kid, but recently I got a whole lot more motivation to do so. My idol, Toon (the frontman of my favourite band, Bodyslam), is running a 55-day marathon from South to North Thailand to raise money for hospitals. Words can’t express how inspired I am by him and his actions. Last week, I got the opportunity to join him on the run when he came through Bangkok. I think I can die happy now.
For more usual days, I love watching movies. Pro tip: horror movies are the best, because you can go with someone you like and have a readymade reason to hug them when the ghost shows up.
Going out for a (sensible amount of) drink occasionally is good as well, most importantly for the social aspect: you can really get to understand someone’s point of view much better, which really helps to deepen relationships. If it’s with colleagues, I find that understanding someone to that level helps with work, because you know what makes them tick and what they’re looking for.
Life isn’t just about the end goal. In many ways, the journey is more important. You can learn so many inspiring things from the people you meet along the way and even from the problems which crop up when you least expect them to.
Cherish the process; you can find many new beautiful things when you open your heart to your colleagues and friends. I believe that this will bring more success and happiness to your life than anything else ?
